Welcome
Thank you for reading. This edition updates our previous newsletter on managing chronic pain and offers practical reminders to help you feel supported and keep progressing.
What’s new about chronic pain
Chronic pain affects people of all ages, including many working-age adults, though prevalence is highest in those over 75. Recent guidance reinforces a holistic, active approach: understanding pain, reviewing daily habits, and using gentle, consistent movement to improve quality of life.
Take a moment to reflect
When pain or discomfort appears, pause and notice it. Ask yourself whether any of these areas have changed recently:
Exercise;
Sleep;
Nutrition;
Stress management;
Daily activity levels;
Overall wellbeing.
Small, steady changes in these areas often make a big difference.
Keep practising and feel supported
Regular practice is the single most important thing you can do. Exercises such as Pilates, taught by an experienced instructor, help manage pain, build resilience, and improve function.
Aim for consistent, manageable sessions rather than occasional intense effort.
If pain increases, adapt the exercise rather than stop completely—modify range, intensity, or frequency.
You are not alone: reach out for guidance, ask for modifications, and use professional support to stay on track.
Share this with someone who might benefit
If this doesn’t apply to you, you can still help a friend or family member by passing on these resources and encouraging them to keep practising and seek support.
Warm regards
