A little reset, a little movement, and getting ready to return
🌿 September Newsletter
A little reset, a little movement, and a fresh start
Dear Pilates & Physio Family,
September is here, and with it comes a lovely opportunity to return to our routines and give our bodies a little more attention.
Summer can be a wonderful time to slow down, travel, spend time with family and friends, and step away from our usual schedules. But after a few weeks of less structured movement, our bodies can sometimes feel a little stiff, sluggish or simply out of rhythm.

So, as we return to our regular Pilates classes, think of this as your gentle reminder:
💚 It’s time to move again, while listening to your body
You don’t need to “make up” for missed workouts or push yourself too hard. The aim is simply to reconnect with your body, wake up your muscles and joints, and gradually rebuild your strength and mobility.
✨ Reawaken your body with Pilates
Pilates is a wonderful way to ease yourself back into movement because it encourages us to move with control, awareness and good breathing.
Here are a few simple Pilates-inspired movements you can include in your day. Many of them can also be adapted and performed while seated if that feels more comfortable or appropriate for you.
🌱 Wake up your spine
Gentle movements such as pelvic tilts, cat stretches or seated spinal rotations can help restore mobility to your back after long periods of sitting, travelling or resting.
🦵 Mobilise your joints
Try slow ankle circles, gentle knee bends, hip movements and shoulder rolls. These can be performed standing or seated, depending on your balance, mobility and comfort.
💪 Switch your muscles back on
Simple bridges, heel slides, leg lifts or gentle core exercises can help you reconnect with your muscles and begin rebuilding strength. Seated heel raises and gentle seated leg lifts are also lovely alternatives.
🌬️ Don’t forget to breathe
Take a few slow, deep breaths and allow your ribs and abdomen to move naturally. Good breathing can help you feel more connected, relaxed and ready to move.
🚶♀️ Walk it out
A daily walk is one of the simplest ways to get your body moving again. Start gently and gradually build your time and pace. If walking is not suitable for you, gentle seated marching can also help encourage movement and circulation.
🌸 A few little reminders for September
Start where you are.
Your body may not feel exactly as it did before the summer, and that’s completely normal.
Quality over quantity.
A few mindful, controlled movements are far more valuable than rushing through a workout.
Adapt when you need to.
Exercise should work for your body. Movements can be adjusted, supported or performed while seated whenever needed.
Listen rather than push.
Muscle effort is normal, but sharp, worsening or unusual pain is not. If something doesn’t feel right, ease off and seek appropriate advice.
Make time for recovery.
Rest is not the opposite of exercise. It is an important part of getting stronger.
Consistency beats perfection.
You don’t need to do everything. Just keep showing up for yourself.
🧘♀️ Your body deserves your attention
Life gets busy. We often spend our time looking after everyone and everything else, while our own wellbeing moves further down the list.
As we begin a new month and return to our routines, why not make a little more space for you?
Move. Breathe. Strengthen. Stretch. Rest. Recover.
And, most importantly, enjoy feeling your body move again.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to our regular Pilates classes and get moving together again!
See you in class! 💚
Warmly,Graci McArdle Pilates & Physio
